Customer Reviews:
Left earpiece went dead within 2 months (2009-01-05) Rating: 1/5
The left earpiece bit the dust, after light and gentle use for 2 months. Not $$ enough to be worth a return. Save yourself the trouble and don't get these. The sound wasn't half as good as the Sony's I ordered for only $6 more.
Noise reducing, but that's about it... (2009-01-04) Rating: 2/5
Well, the 4/5 stars here prompted me to try these out, so I bought them using my Pepsi points. Let me tell you, I'd be pretty sore about it if I had to pay for them myself. I'll start with the good, just to be somewhat fair:
The good
-Lightweight
-They are indeed pretty good at noise reduction
-They have some bass, at least a bit more than the standard Zune earbuds I have
The bad
-One size fits all. If your ear is the wrong size, tough. My right ear happens to be just a bit too small, so they're really hard to get into my right ear, and when I do it gets uncomfortable pretty fast.
-No treble whatsoever. This point really bothers me. If you have any kind of audio system (iPod, car audio, home theater, etc.), try turning the treble all the way down and the bass up a few notches (after all, they have a bit more bass than normal). You hear that? It sounds pretty bad... That's what these sound like. While I do like a bit more bass, I wouldn't give up all the treble for it, everything just sounds muffled that way.
-I haven't tested this, but I bet they're really really fragile and easy to snap. The plastic they're made of seems really cheap.
Overall, if you're considering these as an upgrade to the standard Zune/iPod earphones, don't bother. The Coby's are noise reducing, sure, but they may not fit you very well and they sound really muffled.
Note: none of my sound devices have an equalizer, perhaps someone can try turning up the treble all the way and testing them then. I know iPods have an equalizer, so try it for yourself and see if it helps. It would pretty much be the only way to get acceptable sound quality out of these, and if that works, great, these are really cheap earbuds
Great Sound but hard to fit in ear (2008-12-30) Rating: 4/5
I got the Coby headphones and when I listen to them, they are really good with bring a rich and full sound to your ears. But, the problem is that they were hard to fit in my ear, which disapointed me. TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, simpily pull off the rubbery thing on the headphones and they fit perfectly. That is only if you can't fit them in your ears. And you just have to clean them a little bit more often or clean your ears.
Not durable (2008-12-28) Rating: 2/5
My son loses his ear buds at least twice a month, so I bought several of these purely based on price, and every single pair fell apart within a week (the plastic padding came off and wouldn't stick back on). Definitely don't stand up to teenage wear.
Not bad for the price but a year later and I am shopping for new ones. (2008-12-28) Rating: 3/5
I purchased these a year ago and you can see from the title I am searching for a new pair. I was not totally disappointed because they were an upgrade from the standard ear phones. But after a couple of wears you wont have to worry about anyone trying on your headphones because they get very dirty after a couple of wears. Also, running for the train recently, I accidentally brushed off the ear buds cover and could not find where it dropped. So to sum it up, if I didn't lose the ear bud covers I would have dealt with the cleanliness issue and kept it moving with my 4.99 purchase, but since I am in need of a new pair I will treat myself to an upgrade this time around.
