I bought these bags and the company inadvertently shipped me the wrong bags. I emailed the company and asked to be reimbursed for the difference in price since what they sent me was the kind of bag that the grocery stores sell now.

Not only did they send me the five canvas bags I had ordered, but they told me to keep the bags I had already received. I'd say that is excellent Customer Care.

The bags are very roomy and sturdy to boot.

Love these bags. They're strong and hold a fair amount of groceries. I also like the fact that they're not gigantic. I'd say its a little wider than the average paper bags at the store. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a hard bottom so the bag can stand on it's own.

First I bought these as reusable grocery bags and I simply LOVED them.
They are super strong and keep their shape. When you don't need them, they get very flat for storage. My babysitter uses them to carry around the kids clothes/ snacks/ toys and my mom took some for her errands. I was so happy about these that I bought 20 of them. This Christmas I put presents in them! The other canvas bags are not as reusable or sturdy. It must be something about the design or materials... but they don't compare to these!

The size of these bags is good. The shape is good. The bagging loop is fine, but I usually bag my own so it didn't matter much to me.

The fabric of these bags is thinner than most canvas bags. Also, straight out of the box the bags are wrinkled (and in some cases creased) in strange places. I expect cloth totes to wrinkle up when they are washed, but not when they are brand new. In addition, there were not-so-little holes near the top where one of those plastic tag things had been forced through, even though in some cases the plastic tag thing was not still there.

For myself they are OK, but I had intended on giving them as a gift and they really don't look nice enough (or even new enough) for that.

Addendum (June 2008): One of the bags got a 2.5-inch hole in one of the side seams the second time I used it. The hole appears to be due to their not having aligned the two edges of the fabric properly before sewing them together.

Perfect bags, for several reasons:

*washable (a big plus when choosing reusable bags, considering the number of hands that are going to touch them over the years when bagging groceries)
*durable
*open up nicely -- rectangular bottom lets bag stand on its own without tipping
*fold up flat, easy to manage a stack of several bags
*loop inside bag hooks onto bagging station making it easier for grocery store personnel to load
*simple, plain, classy (no in-your-face HEY I'M GOING GREEN! logo or pictures)
*reasonably priced
*my order came with a free "hot and cold" 3-ply insulated bag and a pen!
